MARYLAND, USA — Law enforcement officers in Maryland have taken custody of a man who allegedly posted threats about harming children and law enforcement officers on social media.
The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, Charles County Sheriff’s Office, and Calvert County Sheriff’s Office say they were actively investigating recent social media threats made by a 21-year-old man. The sheriff's offices launched a multi-jurisdictional search Thursday that ended in the suspect, Kevin Lee Bonnie, being taken into custody after a public tip.
Sheriffs say Bonnie posted multiple times online on Sept. 5 expressing an intention to harm law enforcement officers and also children waiting at bus stops. Authorities allege he has had recent interactions with police officers in both Charles and St. Mary’s counties.
The investigation is ongoing and law enforcement did not specify what charges Bonnie is currently facing.
