WALDORF, Md. — A Maryland man faces up to 115 years in prison after he was convicted on multiple child sexual abuse charges, the Charles County State's Attorney announced on Tuesday.

Katravien Vercher, 25, of Waldorf was convicted last week on five counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor and one count of Third-Degree Sexual Offense.
Vercher's victims were 5, 6, and 10 years old when they were first abused by Vercher, according to Charles County State's Attorney Tony Covington. The three children were siblings, with the oldest experiencing most of the abuse. After three years of abuse, the 10-year-old girl told her mother about Vercher and the girl's mother reported him to the Charles County Sheriff's Office in March 2023.
"The sexual contact with the 10-year-old victim continued repeatedly over the course of three years and progressed in nature," the state attorney's report reads. "He also came up with a code phrase to use with the victim when they were around other people, indicating he wanted sexual contact."
Vercher had already moved in with the children's mother in 2020 when he started abusing her kids. The man had apparently told her children that his sexual abuse was a "game."
"Vercher engaged in sexual acts with the other two minor victims as well," the state attorney's report reads. "On one occasion, the two youngest victims were present during the sexual act at the same time."
Vercher admitted to investigators that he told the 10-year-old girl that he was attracted to her and that he had slapped her butt.
Vercher's sentencing hearing is set for December, the maximum sentence for his crimes carries a sentence of 115 years in prison.
