Maryland woman arrested for hitting boyfriend with car, killing him

LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — Accused of running over and killing her boyfriend with an SUV, a St. Mary's County woman was arrested by Maryland State Police, according to a release on Wednesday.

Simone Stewart, 50, of Lexington Park was charged with second-degree murder, first degree assault, homicide by motor vehicle and driving under the influence.

Demeatrum Scarborough, 53, was taken to the hospital after the Monday afternoon. He died the next day. 

"Police believe Stewart and Scarborough were involved in an ongoing relationship," Maryland State Police said Wednesday. "Further investigation indicates they were involved in an alleged altercation at the time the incident occurred." 

Stewart has been held by police inside the St. Mary's Detention Center ahead of a future court appearance.
