Police arrest man accused of sexually assaulting 13-year-old girl in Manassas

Sender Juventino Linares Rivera, 35, was arrested and charged with aggravated sexual battery, abduction and attempted rape among other charges.

MANASSAS, Va. — Police have arrested a 35-year-old Manassas man in connection to an abduction and sexual assault on Dec. 15.

According to the Prince William County Police Department, at 9:16 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to the 5400 block of Hoadly Road in Manassas to investigate a theft.

Police said the victim was a 13-year-old girl. The victim spoke to police and wanted to report that an unknown man had taken her bike. However, after further questioning, the girl said that man had also sexually assaulted her.

The girl told police she was riding her bike in the area of Hoadly Road and the Prince William Parkway when she stopped because she was tired and the weather was bad.

At that time, a red truck occupied by only the suspect pulled up next to her and offered her a ride, police said. The girl agreed and the man loaded the bike in the bed of the truck before driving away with her in the passenger seat.

The man drove a short distance to the 5400 block of Hoadly Road where police say he sexually assaulted the girl in a nearby parking lot. After the reported assault, the victim exited the vehicle and the suspect drove off with her bike still in the bed of the truck.

A day after reporting the incident, Prince William County Police announced the arrest of Sender Juvenito Linares Rivera. Rivera is charged with aggravated sexual battery, abduction, carnal knowledge, attempted rape and attempted strangulation. Police said he is being held without bond.
