WASHINGTON — Police are asking for the public's help identifying and locating a man accused of assaulting an officer.
On Wednesday, just after 3 p.m., a group of people were protesting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as he addressed a joint session of Congress outside Union Station. During the demonstration, one man is accused of throwing something at an officer. The officer was hit by the object. The suspect responsible for throwing the item ran away from the area before being taken into custody.
Police have released a photo of the man to the public in hopes of having help identifying him.

Anyone who can identify the man, or who has knowledge of the assault should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $1,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible for a crime committed in the District of Columbia.
At least 23 people were arrested in connection to the protests. The arrest charges range from crowding, obstructing, and incommoding to assault on a police officer and crossing a police line.
