WASHINGTON — An attempted carjacking took a violent turn Monday night. Now, four people are in custody, two of whom are under 18.

It all unfolded late Monday night. A group of four young men approached two people in the 1200 block of H Street Northeast and tried to take their car. According to a police report from DC Police, the group drove up to the other car in a white sedan while two people were talking on the sidewalk. Two suspects got out of the sedan and tried to jump into the parked car.

The two people who were speaking on the sidewalk saw what was happening and tried to pull the driver and the other suspect out of the car while they were trying to make a U-turn and drive away with the car. The suspects crashed the stolen car into a nearby jersey wall and bailed out.

The white sedan stopped to pick the two suspects up again, and the two men chased after them. As the two suspects got back in the car, one of them fired four shots at the man, hitting him in the knee and leg, the police report says.

The shot man dove for cover and the four people in the white sedan left the scene. One of the suspects was wearing a GPS ankle monitor. Police tracked the monitor to a location nearby, and found the white sedan running unattended in a parking lot. The white car had been reported stolen earlier in the day.

While officers were in the parking lot with the stolen car, they saw four people running from a building. Police were still able to use the suspect's ankle monitor to track the group. Police used a helicopter and a police K-9 to pursue the group, and eventually took them into custody.

Officers recovered three guns after arresting all four people. Andrew Williams, 18, Anardo Little, 18, and two 16-year-old boys who were not identified because of their age, were all charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, armed carjacking and other charges.

The man who was shot was hospitalized with injuries not thought to be life-threatening, according to police.
