Man shot to death in Southeast DC

The police department is in search of a gray Nissan sedan in connection to the deadly shooting.

WASHINGTON — A Sunday afternoon shooting in Southeast D.C. has left a man dead and police investigating what happened.

Officers with the Metropolitan Police Department responded to 37th Place Southeast, off of 37th Street Southeast and Ridge Road Southeast, just after 2:10 p.m. after a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found a man on the sidewalk who had been shot. 

Police say the man, identified as 19-year-old Jerry Hardy III, of Southeast, died at the location. 

The police department is in search of a gray Nissan sedan in connection to the shooting. The car is said to have silver mirrors, tinted windows, and a Maryland license plate.

Anyone who has knowledge of this shooting should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a violent crime committed in the District of Columbia.
