SILVER SPRING, Md. — A man faces nearly 100 years behind bars for his role in a shooting outside a Silver Spring restaurant last year that left five people hurt. Michael Boyd, Jr. was found guilty of two counts of first-degree assault and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony on Thursday.
Boyd, Jr. faces a maximum of 90 years in prison when he is sentenced on June. 20.
The shooting happened in July 2023 outside the Sole D'Italia restaurant in the 14300 block of Layhill Road. A fight broke out behind the restaurant and Boyd, Jr. showed up flashing a gun and pointing it at several people. Four people were shot, including Boyd, Jr. Another person was hurt by bullet fragments.
The fight and shooting was caught on surveillance camera and shown in court.
The jury found Boyd intended to cause fear of physical bodily harm and used a firearm to do so.
