Shooting leaves man dead, another arrested for the crime in Odenton

Investigators say they believe the shooting was targeted and not a random act of violence.

ODENTON, Md. — A man is dead and another person is in custody after a shooting in Odenton Monday night.

Officers with the Anne Arundel County Police Department responded to Meadowmist Way and Stehlik Drive around 9:45 p.m. after a shooting was reported. Once there, they found a man on the ground suffering from injuries due to the shooting.

The shooting victim, identified as 27-year-old Isaiah Olugbemi, of Odenton, was taken to trauma center for treatment, where he later died. 

While investigating, several nearby residents from the neighborhood said they heard multiple gunshots coming from outside their homes. Investigators say they believe the shooting was targeted and not a random act of violence. 

On Tuesday, the police department identified 36-year-old Nicholas Francis Xavier Giroux, of Odenton, as the suspect in the case. He has been arrested and charged with first and second-degree murder.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.

Police are urging residents in the area with private surveillance to check their footage for any activity and provide it to investigators to aid in this investigation. Please call 410-222-4731 if you have video to share with detectives.
