WASHINGTON — A Maryland man is under arrest for his alleged role in a deadly overnight shooting in Northeast, D.C.
Police identified 25-year-old Charles Demarco Best, of Clinton, MD, as the suspect who shot and killed 35-year-old Darius Robinson, of Northwest, D.C. Investigators believe the suspect and victim were known to each other.
At 3 a.m. on Sunday, officers with the Metropolitan Police Department responded to the 1600 block of Rosedale Street, Northeast for a report of a shooting. At the scene, officers found a man inside the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene and later identified as 35-year-old Darius Robinson.
Investigators say the suspect fled the scene after the shooting, but officers were able to quickly locate and take him in. As a result, Best was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
The investigation into this deadly shooting is active and ongoing.
