Man charged with shooting, killing someone aboard a Metrobus

The suspect was extradited from a detention center in D.C. to Montgomery County, where he is being held without bond.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — A little over a year after a deadly Metrobus shooting in Montgomery County, police have someone in custody.

Detectives have arrested and charged 22-year-old Trevon Hatcherson-Ross for the shooting death of 19-year-old Justice T'Ziyan Elliott that occurred aboard a Metrobus last year.

On February 17, 2023, officers were on patrol in the Vista at White Oak apartments when they saw a Metrobus pulled over on Lockwood Drive. The officers stopped and found out a shooting had just occurred inside of the bus.

Officers attempted to help the shooting victim until Montgomery County Fire and Rescue arrived. The victim, later identified as Elliott, died.

Investigators identified Hatcherson-Ross as the suspect in the shooting and got an arrest warrant charging him with first-degree murder, use of a gun while committing a felony, reckless endangerment, and other charges.

On Friday, June 14, Hatcherson-Ross, of Washington, D.C., was extradited from a D.C. detention center to Montgomery County, where he was charged for the above shooting and processed.
