DC man charged with murder in shooting death of teen aboard Metro train

The 17-year-old was shot multiple times in the head on May 28, 2023 before being pronounced dead by emergency personnel.

WASHINGTON — A 23-year-old D.C. man was indicted on murder charges Wednesday in the death of a teenager killed on a green line Metro train in May 2023.

Investigators say Keith Williams is charged with first-degree murder while armed for his alleged involvement in the deadly shooting of 17-year-old Brendan Ofori.

According to the indictment, on May 28, 2023, Williams and Ofori were traveling separately on Metro. Surveillance video shows Ofori get on a southbound Green Line train at the West Hyattsville Metro Station. Williams was then spotted entering the Stadium Armory Metro Station and transferring to a Green Line train at L'Enfant Plaza Metro Station.

At 11:40 a.m., while both Williams and Ofori were on the same train traveling to the Waterfront station, police claim Williams shot the teen multiple times after the two got in a fight. Ofori was found to be unresponsive by emergency personnel and pronounced dead a short time later.

MPD is investigating the deadly shooting.

Williams was held without bond Wednesday, after appearing before Judge Michael O'Keefe.
