Man arrested for assaults in DC, hit one victim with a rock, police say

Two people say they were assaulted by the same man near the intersection of 7th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.

WASHINGTON — A man is in custody after he allegedly assaulted two people in Northwest, D.C. with a rock on Monday. 

Just before 9 a.m., officers with the Metropolitan Police Department responded to the intersection of 7th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, Northwest for an assault. Once there, officers talked with two victims who claimed to have been assaulted by the same man. One of the victims said they were assaulted with a rock. Both victims were evaluated and released by DC Fire and EMS. They are expected to be OK.

Officers searched the nearby area after the assaults and located a suspect. John Kennedy, 46, was placed under arrest and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (rock) and simple assault.

The investigation into these cases is active and ongoing.
