SILVER SPRING, Md. — A man has been taken into custody in connection with the death of his roommate in Silver Spring.
Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department have made an arrest in connection with the murder of 19-year-old Diego Edilberto Borja-Cardona. Abraham Luna Perez, a 26-year-old from Silver Spring, has been charged with first-degree murder following an investigation.
The incident began on Oct. 22, when officers responded to reports of a body found near a bus stop on Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring. Once there, officers discovered Borja-Cardona lying in the bushes behind the stop, already dead. An autopsy performed by the chief medical examiner in Baltimore confirmed that his death was a homicide.
As detectives opened an investigation, they identified Luna Perez, Borja-Cardona’s roommate, as a suspect.
The investigation, supported by evidence and witness statements, ultimately led to Luna Perez’s arrest. On Friday, investigators with the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Task Force apprehended him, and he was taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. Perez has been held without bond.
