DC Police: 18-year-old charged with 4 armed robberies in 2 hours

An investigation helped detectives link the same person to all four robberies and determined a lookout for the car the suspects were using.

WASHINGTON — An 18-year-old man is under arrest for his alleged involvement in multiple armed robberies in Northwest D.C. Police charged Alijah Headspeth with four counts of armed robbery with a gun and carrying a pistol without a license.

Investigators allege that in each of the below armed robberies, Headspeth and others walked up to the victims while showing off his gun and took property from them:

  • At 9:30 p.m. in the 3300 block of Holmead Place, Northwest
  • At 10:41 p.m. at the intersection of 14th Street and Perry Place Northwest
  • At 10:56 p.m. in the 1600 block of Military Road Northwest
  • At 11:10 p.m. at the intersection of 13th Street and Tuckerman Street Northwest

Headspeth and the others reportedly fled the scene in a car after each robbery.

After an investigation, detectives were able to link the robberies above together and determined a lookout for the car used by the suspects.

An MPD helicopter helped locate the car. Shortly after, officers took one suspect into custody at the intersection of Minnesota and Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenues, Northwest.

The armed robberies remain under investigation. Anyone who has any information about these robberies should take no action but call MPD at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department's text tip line at 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a crime committed in the District of Columbia.
