WASHINGTON — DC Police have arrested a 19-year-old man for allegedly carjacking his Uber driver after getting into an argument over his dog. Detectives say Dax Franco Willis of Northeast, D.C. assaulted the driver before stealing her car when she refused to allow his dog in the vehicle. He is charged with unarmed carjacking and robbery.
On Oct. 8, at 7:03 a.m., police say the rideshare driver picked up the accused carjacker identified as Willis in the 300 block of Eastern Avenue in Northeast. When Willis attempted to bring his dog into the rideshare driver's car, she told him that his dog was not allowed. This is when he threatened to spray her with mace.
During an argument, investigators say Willis assaulted the rideshare driver. He reportedly dragged her from the car, stole her phone, and fled the scene in the stolen vehicle, which was recovered later on Southern Avenue Southeast, near East Capitol Street Southeast.
On Oct. 11, Willis was arrested and charged by DC Police for alleged involvement in the robbery and assault.
