GAITHERSBURG, Md. — A man is facing charges after police say he attacked two Montgomery County officers on Monday.
According to the Montgomery County Department of Police, officers were called to the 7900 block of Otter Cove Court just before 11:45 p.m. for reports of a "person in distress."
Upon arrival, police say officers found 28-year-old Michael MacCrae Shannon who allegedly became aggressive and attacked them. The officers were able to get Shannon into custody without needing further help.
Police say one of the officers was seriously injured and taken to an area hospital for treatment. They are expected to recover.
Shannon was evaluated by first responders before being taken to a local area hospital. He was later taken to the Central Processing Unit after he was medically cleared.
Shannon is being held without bond and faces charges of second-degree assault, disorderly conduct and intoxicated endangerment.
