FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — The Fairfax County Police Department arrested a track coach from Aldie, Virginia Wednesday after investigators discovered child pornography on several of his electronic devices.
FCPD identified the man as Ted Nasol, 26, who coached children involved in the Dulles South Track Club, located in Loudon County. A statement from FCPD says Nasol faces charges for using a computer to solicit a minor as well as charges for producing and reproducing child porn.
Detectives from the Sully Police District began investigating the case after they were notified that a child told a parent they were being blackmailed online. Police say a man texted the child in January "demanding unlawful images" and threatening to release "illicit images" to the child's family if the child refused to send the images.
Investigators found that one of the child's social media accounts was hacked by Nasol months before the blackmail texts. In October 2020, police say Nasol texted the child claiming to be "a support specialist [for] a social media company." Police say this ruse allowed Nasol to "illegally access the victim’s account." The day Nasol gained access, he uploaded photos of the child to his phone, police say.
Detectives concluded that when Nasol texted the child in January, he texted the child the "illicit images" he stole in October and demanded more.
Detectives searched Nasol's home in Aldie on Nov. 12 and they discovered "numerous images of child sexual abuse material" on several of his electronic devices.
WUSA9 reached out to Dulles South Track Club for comment but did not receive a response at the time of publication.
