WASHINGTON — Three months after an unconscious 2-month-old was brought to a D.C. fire station, police are investigating the infant's death as a homicide.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to a home along Newton Street Northwest just after 11 a.m. on May 27. An incident report shows that when officers arrived, they learned that 2-month-old Amiri Royal Bynum was taken to a nearby fire station for help.
Amiri was then taken to an area hospital by D.C. Fire and EMS, where he died.
Nearly three months later, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia determined the 2-month-old died from Fentanyl/Methamphetamine Intoxication. His death was ruled a homicide.
There is no word on how the infant came upon the drugs and police have not reported any arrests in this case as of Friday afternoon.
