ST CHARLES, Md. — An Upper Marlboro woman is facing several charges after allegedly attempting to run from officers early Sunday morning.

According to the Charles County Sheriff's Office, officers were called to Mall Circle just after 2 a.m. for the report of a hit-and-run crash. While officers were in the area, they found the accused driver in her car still in the parking lot.

When officers attempted to talk to the driver, they say she took off. The sheriff's office claims officers tried to prevent the driver from leaving the parking lot and at one point the driver collided with two patrol cars, injuring one officer.

The driver reportedly continued to flee, leaving the parking lot and eventually coming to a stop on Billingsley Road.

The driver has since been identified as 31-year-old LaTanya Lisa Lee. Officers say she was arrested without any further incident and charged with assault, fleeing and eluding, negligent driving, driving while impaired, and other related offenses.

Lee was later released from the Charles County Detention Center on June 30 on an unsecured $3,500 bond.
