ELKRIDGE, Md. — A violent scene inside an Elkridge home is under investigation by Howard County Police
Officers with the Howard County Police Department responded to Norwood Ferry, off of Washington Boulevard, around 10 p.m. after neighbors called about hearing gunshots.
When officers arrived they found several people inside the home who had been shot. The suspect, identified by police as 61-year-old Nayyar Abbas Syed, was pronounced dead at the hospital. His wife, identified as 57-year-old Syeda Aalia Nayyer, daughter, 25-year-old Syeda Fatima, and daughter-in-law Alizey Fatima were also pronounced dead at the scene.
Syed's son, 31-year-old Muhammad Ali Hamza, is hospitalized with critical injuries. His three-month-old granddaughter was found in the home unhurt.
Police say all of the victims lived in the same house in the 6900 block of Norwood Ferry. Nayyar Syed lived elsewhere, but did not force his way into the home.
The investigation is ongoing.
