Homicide investigation underway in Fairfax County after man shot, killed

Police responded to the area of the deadly shooting just a few minutes after 6 a.m.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — A man was shot and killed in Alexandria Tuesday morning, sparking an investigation into what happened.

Officers with the Fairfax County Police Department responded to Richmond Highway, nearby North Kings Highway, in the Fair Haven neighborhood just after 6 a.m. after a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found man shot and injured.

Officials declared 38-year-old Arthur Edward Mann II dead at the scene.

Detectives believe Mann and the shooter were arguing at the gas pump prior to the shooting. 

Detectives say they are looking for a man between 40-50 years old, standing at 5-foot-6, with short hair and a beard. The shooter was last seen driving dark-colored Ford SUV with Virginia tags. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
