SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. — A former Spotsylvania math teacher is facing charges for inappropriately contacting children, and now authorities are working to see if there have been any other victims.
In January, the Chesapeake Police Department was informed that 31-year-old Daniel Fleming, from Chesapeake, was involved in criminal activity involving children. He was previously employed at a private school in Chesapeake and Spotsylvania, He was also involved in youth ministries at a local church.
He was charged with solicitation of child pornography and use of communications systems to facilitate certain offenses involving children as a result of the police investigation.
During the investigation conducted by Chesapeake Police, they let the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office know about it, as they had opened a criminal case with allegations of inappropriate contact with a juvenile in 2019.
On May 15, Fleming was charged with taking indecent liberties with a child, according to Spotsylvania deputies. He is being held in Chesapeake and was served his Spotsylvania warrant there.
His next court date is July 12 in Spotsylvania Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
