FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — More than two years after a deadly shooting in Hybla Valley, one man has been found guilty of murder, robbery, and other serious crimes.
On Tuesday, a jury in Fairfax County delivered a verdict, finding Jordan Eugene Cochran guilty of first-degree murder, robbery, aggravated malicious wounding, and the use of a gun in connection with events that unfolded on January 8, 2022. The verdict marks the culmination of a complex legal battle.
The case centered around the brutal killing of Kebbren Isiah Leigh-Gaye and injuries sustained by Reggie L. Grant. Police say Cochran shot and killed Leigh-Gaye outside a bus stop near the intersection of Dart Drive and Richmond Highway. After which, he ran away from the stop and approached a driver in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven on Lockheed Boulevard and asked for a ride.

When he was denied, Cochran fired his gun and shot the man in the eye. That man was later identified as Grant.
Officers located Cochran in a parking lot of a nearby Taco Bell on Richmond Highway after both shootings. He was taken into custody without further incident. A gun was recovered along with items belonging to Leigh-Gaye.
Investigators say Cochran and Leigh-Gaye were known to each other.
The prosecution of this case was led by the Office of the Fredericksburg Commonwealth’s Attorney, who served as the substitute prosecutor throughout the proceedings. From August 5-13, 2024, Chief Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Stephen R. Eubank and Spotsylvania County Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Blake G. Anderson presented the Commonwealth’s case to the jury.
In a statement issued by Fredericksburg Commonwealth’s Attorney Elizabeth K. Humphries, the prosecution team extended its deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones of Kebbren Leigh-Gaye and Reggie Grant. Humphries acknowledged that while the conviction cannot undo the devastating impact of the crimes, it represents a crucial step in the pursuit of justice. The statement also highlighted the importance of collaboration between civilians and law enforcement in achieving this outcome, thanking the Fairfax County Police Department, the Fairfax County Victim Witness Unit, and the civilian witnesses who played a critical role in the case.
Jordan Eugene Cochran is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov.14.
