ARLINGTON, Va. — Police are searching for a suspect who shot at a vehicle multiple times, sending a driver to the hospital. According to Arlington County Police, the shooting began in the Green Valley neighborhood and continued along Columbia Pike around 11 p.m. Monday night.
Officers were called to the area of 22nd Street S. and S. Kenmore Street for the report of shots heard. While at the scene, they learned a man had taken himself to the hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound. Police described the man's condition as stable.
A preliminary investigation found that the man was stopped at a stop light at 22nd Street S. and S. Kenmore Street when a suspect opened fire from a black sedan. Following the initial shooting, the victim drove away and the person in the black sedan followed. More shots were fired at Columbia Pike and S. Wayne Street. The victim was then able to leave and go to the hospital.
Some of the bullets struck Bob and Edith's Diner along Columbia Pike. No one inside the diner was hurt.
Responding officers processed both scenes, collected evidence, spoke with witnesses and conducted an aerial search with the assistance of a police helicopter. Police ask neighbors who live in the area to review any home surveillance video that may be helpful to the investigation.
Investigators are still working to determine what led to the shooting. No arrests have been made.
