Police: Man shot, killed in SE DC

The victim in this shooting has been identified as 28-year-old Kenneth Barksdale, Jr., of Southeast, D.C.

WASHINGTON — Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed in Southeast, D.C. on Saturday.

At 8:07 p.m., officers with the Metropolitan Police Department responded to the sounds of gunshots in the 1200 block of 44th Street. At the scene, officers found a man who had been shot. He was rushed to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries. 

The victim in this shooting has been identified as 28-year-old Kenneth Barksdale, Jr., of Southeast, D.C. 

MPD currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information on this shooting is asked to call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s tip line by sending a text message to 50411.
