OAKTON, Va. — A man is now in custody in connection to a deadly Friday night shooting in Oakton, Virginia. Fairfax County Police say the victim was found shot to death inside a car
At 8:37 p.m., officers responded to the 10400 block of Viera Lane in Mosby Woods for a report of a domestic-related shooting. While filing the report with the police department, a woman indicated that her husband, Waisuddin Quraishi, 50, of Mosby Woods, had shot someone. She said that she and her family were directly threatened by her husband and that he may be in possession of a weapon.
After receiving this report, officers searched the nearby area and located Mohammad Zekria, 37, of Fairfax, inside a car in the 3300 block of Willow Crescent Drive with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives then responded to the scene and determined that Quraishi had shot Zekria. Both men were known to each other.
Saturday morning, at 2:22 a.m., Virginia State Troopers located Quraishi walking alongside I-495 and Braddock Road. He was safely taken into custody and transported to Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with Second-Degree Murder and Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony. Quraishi is being held on no bond.
