2 men dead in DC after 2 separate overnight shootings

One shooting happened in Northeast while the other took place in Northwest.

WASHINGTON — Two separate overnight shootings in D.C. have left two men dead and sparked investigations into what happened.

The first shooting happened around 11:25 p.m. on Wednesday. Police responded to S Street Northwest, nearby 9th Street Northwest and just a block away from Shaw-Howard University Metro, after receiving a report of a shooting.

Once there, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Medics arrived, working to treat the man, but he was pronounced dead at the location. 

The police department stated on X that they are looking for man who was wearing a white or grey shirt and dark pants at the time of the shooting. They are said to have gone in an unknown direction in a black sedan.

Just before 3:25 a.m. on Thursday, police responded to the second shooting that was reported on Hunt Place Northeast, nearby 44th Street Northeast. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was treated at the scene and later pronounced dead there as well. No information has been released about a person of interest in the homicide case.

The identity of both men have not been released, this includes their names, ages, and where they are from. The investigations remain active and ongoing.
