WASHINGTON — On Wednesday, a judge indicted a 19-year-old man for the murder of a 30-year-old man last summer.
Antwain Ulmer was charged with one count of first-degree murder while armed, one count of assault with intent to kill while armed, and other related charges stemming from a shooting that occurred on July 9, 2023.
The shooting happened inside a convenience store along the 700 block of Kenilworth Avenue, Northeast. Officers responded to the store for reports of gunshots. When they arrived, they located Charles Sullivan, unresponsive suffering from gunshot wounds. Sullivan was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers arrested Ulmer two days later.
In addition to indicting Ulmer on first-degree murder charges, a grand jury also indicted him for firing a shot that came within inches of striking and injuring or killing an uninvolved shopper.
Ulmer is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday, April 19. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 90 years in prison.
