WASHINGTON — A 36-year-old man was found guilty by a jury of felony assault charges after he threatened a mother and daughter at gunpoint in traffic dated back in 2018, the United States Attorney's Office announced.
On April 26, 2018, Jacobi Williams started honking his horn at a mother and daughter sitting in the vehicle in front of him in traffic at the intersection of 4th and I Streets in Northwest D.C., police said.
Williams tried to drive around them but was unable to do so. He reversed his vehicle and threatened the pair at gunpoint before driving away when the traffic cleared up, authorities said.
Surveillance footage captured the immediate moments before and after the assault, where Williams was identified. He is currently in custody on an unrelated 2021 homicide offense, the United States Attorney's Office stated. Williams' case is set for trial in June 2023. He is also facing another homicide offense in Charles County, Maryland.
Williams was found guilty of two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon (firearm) following a two-week trial in the D.C. Superior Court. His sentencing is scheduled for March 14, 2023.
