ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. — Police are investigating a crash that claimed the life of a 7-year-old boy Sunday night.
Investigators say the child was riding in the back seat of a 2011 Mazda 3 when it fell out of the window and was struck by a driver.
Just before 7:30 p.m., troopers responded to the area of Interstate 97, north of MD Route 32 in Anne Arundel County to investigate. Police say the Mazda was heading north on the highway when the rear passenger opened the window and fell out of the car, landing in the roadway. The passenger, only identified as a 7-year-old boy, was hit by a car, described as a 2016-2019 Honda Civic.
The driver of the Honda Civic did not stop or wait for police to arrive after the crash. Officers are searching for a 2016-2019 Honda Civic that may have damage to the front left wheel well.
