WASHINGTON — A boy was airlifted to a hospital Thursday evening after being hit by a car in Northeast D.C.
Officers with the Metropolitan Police Department responded to 56th Street Northeast, off of Blaine Street Northeast, around 6:50 p.m. after receiving a report of a pedestrian being struck by a car. Upon arrival, they found a boy, they solely described as young, hurt from the collision, but conscious and breathing.
The boy was taken to a local hospital by U.S. Park Police's helicopter Eagle. No information has been released about the boy's condition at this time.
DC Fire and EMS stated that Assistant Medical Director Dr. David Vitberg helped to treat the child struck by a car and flew with the patient to the hospital. "Our thanks to the crew of the Eagle for being our lifesaving partners."
Police said the striking vehicle remained at the location and their Major Crash Unit is investigating what happened.
