WHEATON-GLENMONT, Md. — Police are searching for two young women accused of attacking a woman as she walked to her car in a grocery store parking garage last month.

According to the Montgomery County Department of Police, the attack happened at the Safeway parking garage along the 11200 block of Georgia Avenue in Wheaton. Officers were called to the parking garage around 9:15 p.m. for reports of an attempted armed robbery.

Upon arrival, investigators learned the victim was approached by two women, believed to be around 18 years old, while walking into Safeway. When the victim left, they were again approached by the same two women while walking to their car.

For some unknown reason, the two women then attacked the victim, kicking and hitting them. The victim fell to the ground during the attack, which only stopped when a good Samaritan began yelling.

After the attack, the two women left the garage, making their way toward Fern Street.

Police released images of the suspects Friday. The first is described as standing around 5-foot-5 with a short ponytail. She was wearing a pink sweater, white t-shirt and jeans. She was carrying a pink phone case.

The second suspect is described as having a thin build. She was last seen wearing a black sweater and black bonnet.

Anyone with information is urged to contact detectives.
