ALEXANDRIA, Va. — After searching for a suspect in an October attempted abduction for weeks, Alexandria Police arrested a man on Thursday who they believe grabbed a woman from a dog park, trying to drag her into the woods.
The attack happened at the Holmes Run Dog Park inside Tarleton Park on Oct. 29 at around 6 p.m. The woman was able to escape any attack or abduction.
"The victim was grabbed from behind and fought off the attacker, who then ran from the scene," Alexandria Police said on Thursday.
Police said they believe Rohid Hakimi, 21, had been trying to violate the Alexandria woman and booked him with attempted abduction with intent to defile and sexual battery.
Hakimi does not live in Alexandria, according to police.
