9-year-old, two teens charged with burglary at Manassas vape store

Police say the store owner confronted the kids and fired multiple gunshots into the air. He has been charged with reckless handling of a firearm.

MANASSAS, Va. — Three juveniles, including a 9-year-old boy, have been charged with attempted burglary of a vape store in Manassas.

According to a press release from Prince William County Police, the three juveniles have only been identified as a 9-year-old boy, a 13-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy. 

Officers arrived at Bristow Vapes on Nokesville Road just before 2:30 a.m. on October 24 after the store owner was notified that the store's alarm was triggered shortly after leaving. 

The store owner called the police before driving back to the store and seeing the two teens and child. The owner told police he confronted the kids and fired multiple gunshots into the air.

When officers arrived they found the 13-year-old and 9-year-old and took them into custody. Both were charged with burglary and released to a family member. The 14-year-old was later identified and charged with burglary and possession of burglarious tools. 

The business owner, Identified as Haitham Amer, was charged with Reckless Handling of a Firearm.
