WASHINGTON — DC Police announced Wednesday that an arrest has been made connected to a double shooting in Northeast D.C. that happened on Dec. 10, 2021.
A statement from MPD said 34-year-old Davon Childs of Hyattsville was killed in the shooting.
The shooting happened around 10 p.m. on Dec. 10, 2021, according to police. Officers responded to reports of shots fired on the 2300 block of 4th Street in Northeast.
DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services said Childs, who was found unconscious in an apartment hallway with a gunshot wound, was displaying no signs of life. Childs was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and was eventually confirmed dead.
Police said another man was found suffering from "multiple gunshot wounds" outside the apartment building, but he was conscious and breathing. The man was taken to a nearby hospital where he underwent surgery for his injuries.
Police declared the double shooting a homicide and the road was closed several hours for an investigation.
On Tuesday, First District police officers arrested Dejuan Bell, 44, of Northeast D.C. in connection with the shooting.
Officers did not indicate Bell's motive.
Police took Bell to the MPD homicide branch where he was charged with first-degree murder while armed.
