WASHINGTON — Two people have been arrested for kidnapping a person at gunpoint in February after they arranged to meet for an online marketplace transaction in Northwest D.C.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), the victim arranged to meet with a person on Feb. 25 around 12:30 a.m. using social media to sell them items. They agreed to meet at 25th and L Streets Northwest.
When the victim arrived at the location, the suspects got out of a vehicle, showing their handguns, and forced him into his own vehicle. The suspects then drove the victim to his home in McLean, Virginia, where they took money and property from him.
Afterward, the victim was driven to District Heights, Maryland, where the suspects left him. The victim was then able to contact Prince George's County Police Department to report what happened.
On Tuesday, April 9, through U.S. District Court indictments, 30-year-old Timothy Williams, of Camp Springs, Maryland, and 30-year-old Jaevonn Archer of Capitol Heights, Maryland, were arrested and charged with armed kidnapping.
The crime is under investigation by MPD with help from the Arlington County Police Department, Fairfax County Police Department, Prince George’s County Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
