LAKE ARBOR, Md. — A teen is in custody in connection to a toddler shooting in Lake Arbor.
On Monday, Prince George's County Police announced that 18-year-old Elijah Fauntleroy of Temple Hills was arrested for Sunday's shooting.
Officers were called to the 600 block of Brookedge Court just before 4 p.m. for reports of a shooting. When first responders arrived they located a young girl with a gunshot wound.
The toddler was taken to a hospital where she remains in critical condition. Officials believe the toddler will make a full recovery.
We sent a crew to the scene on Sunday to gather more information. According to a preliminary investigation, Fauntleroy entered the home and placed the gun in the living room. He left it out and unattended. The toddler then picked up his gun and accidentally shot herself.
Fauntleroy grabbed his gun and ran away following the shooting. When our crew got to the home, they said they saw someone being detained. It is unclear if it was Fauntleroy or the person in the home he went to visit.
Fauntleroy is being charged with reckless endangerment and multiple firearm offenses.
