HOWARD COUNTY, Md. — A teen accused of killing a man was arrested at Howard High School Tuesday afternoon. When taken into custody, police say they found a loaded gun in his backpack.
According to Howard County Police, the arrest stems from the shooting death of 26-year-old Kendrick McLellan, who was found shot to death in a parked car behind a business building in the 8800 block of Centre Park Drive in Jonestown early Saturday morning. However, investigators believe he was shot around 5 p.m. three days earlier.
“My son was a funny, outgoing, caring father. He was my all. My son would give anything to anybody," said McLellan's mother. "I’m hurt that he died a senseless death and these kids need to be held accountable.”
On Tuesday, police went to Howard High School to arrest a 17-year-old student in connection to McLellan's death. At the school, police say they discovered a loaded gun in the student's backpack.
The teen was already under supervision of the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services for a previous incident in another jurisdiction. Due to that previous crime, the teen was wearing an ankle monitor.
A day later, a second teenage suspect was arrested at an Anne Arundel County high school. The 14-year-old suspect was arrested while at school Wednesday.
