GAITHERSBURG, Md. — Three people, including two teenagers, are facing charges in connection to a shooting turned police chase Thursday evening.
According to the Montgomery County Police Department, 20-year-old Terrence Stover, 19-year-old Tyriq Roberts Hawkins, and a 16-year-old boy have been charged with shooting a 17-year-old in the 7900 block of Spiceberry Circle in Montgomery Village.
Just before 5 p.m., police officers were patrolling a neighborhood when they noticed a gray Honda Odyssey parked in front of an apartment building. The three suspects went inside a nearby building. A short time later, the 17-year-old boy was shot and all the suspects left in the same Honda.
The teen boy was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries and was expected to survive.
Officers tried to pull the Honda over, but the suspects continued to "drive erratically through several neighborhoods and I-270," police said Friday.
Eventually, the suspects bailed out of the Honda near Longdraft and Clopper Roads. The trio was apprehended a short time later with the help of community members, K-9 units, the department's drone and Gaithersburg Police officers.
Stover, Hawkins and the 16-year-old were taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where they were charged with attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault and conspiracy to commit second-degree murder. Additionally, the 16-year-old was charged as an adult.
All three suspects were held without bond.
