UPPER MARLBORO, Md. — The Arc Prince George's County hosted an event Saturday aiming to help people with intellectual and developmental disabilities learn how to manage their mental health, fitness and wellness.
The Ready 2B Healthy Youth, Family, Fitness & Fun Festival featured interactive workshops, therapeutic activities and healthy snacks. There was also a "stress free dance party" and gardening tips at the festival in Upper Marlboro.
According to a press release, the highlights of the event were designing a mental health plan with personalized strategies, creating self-care crafts with an emphasis on mindfulness and experiencing a relaxing sound bath.
The Arc Prince George's County's CEO Rob Malone said the Ready 2B Healthy Youth, Family, Fitness & Fun Festival was more than just an event.
"It's a movement towards embracing and nurturing the whole self,” he said.
