WASHINGTON — A 4,000-mile bike ride for a good cause wraps up in the District on Saturday. The Fuller Bike Adventure started in Seattle back on May 24.
First started in 2008, the Fuller Center Bike Adventure benefits the Fuller Center for Housing. It's a Georgia-based nonprofit that builds and repairs homes for low-income families and individuals. In all, the cyclist will cover the same distance as you would if you rode from D.C. to Germany across the Atlantic Ocean.
The cyclists have entered the DMV during some extremely hot temperatures. Over the past week, they have been pedaling through Virginia. Riders have had to deal with temperatures in the upper 80s and low 90s, and the heat is on here in D.C., too.
Since the bike ride began in 2008, the Fuller Bike Adventure has raised more than $4.6 million for the nonprofit. If you feel like joining the adventure, registration for next year's ride opens Aug. 15. More information can be found here.
