SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. — A 15-year-old dog is safe and sound after being rescued from a hole Monday morning.
The 70-pound lab named Dallas had fallen into the 4-foot-deep hole that had been dug by contractors building a deck. The hole, only 24-inches wide, was a tight squeeze for Dallas’ rescuers with Engine 7 of the Spotsylvania County Fire, Rescue and Emergency Management Department. The team was able to safely lift the elderly dog out of the small space.
Dallas has been checked out by a vet and is doing well, according to the department.
Photos shared by the department showed rescuers leaning into the hole head first to help lift Dallas out.
