WASHINGTON — Mayor Muriel Bower and D.C. leaders have announced resources that will help families feed their kids and keep them engaged over the summer break. Families can visit summer.dc.gov to learn about family-friendly things to do across the district.
Over the summer, all youth in D.C. will have access to free meals and snacks at more than 100 DC Youth Meals sites across all eight wards. Sites will open on Wednesday, June 26 and provide free meals through Sunday, August 25. Anyone under the age of 18 will be able to receive free meals at the sites, no application or ID needed.
Some families will also be able to receive DC Sun Bucks. This program will replace the summer pandemic program, Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer. It will give families a one-time $120 EBT benefit to purchase food when school ends. Families already receiving SNAP and TANF benefits do not need to apply for this one-time benefit.
Families who aren’t pre-approved can apply for DC SUN Bucks right here.
The Department of Parks and Recreation has over 8,700 camp slots from Wednesday, June 26 through Friday, August 16. For more information click here.
