(WUSA9)-- Fairfax County Public Schools officials say that they are having some significant mechanical problems with buses throughout the county. Some buses are not starting due to the extreme cold, according to officials.
These problems mean that all buses are running late, say officials. Some routes are more significantly delayed than others.
Officials say that parents should take precautions to make sure kids aren't standing out in the cold too long.
The school system posted a note on its website that says that "Mechanics, transportation supervisors, and drivers are working to the best of their ability to get the buses running and on time."
School officials also apologize for the delays and thank parents for their "patience and understanding."
