WALDORF, Md. — Two men have been charged in connection with the murder of 18-year-old Walter Thomas in Waldorf, Md.
Thomas was shot and killed on March 4 in Fairchild Court in Waldorf, Md.
Michael Moore, 22 and Darren Miller, 24, were charged by detectives in the Charles County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division, a police report said. Moore was also connected to a March 3 shooting that happened on Amber Leaf Place.
Here's a timeline of the incident:
► MARCH 3: A 23-year-old man was shot in the upper body as he was driving near Amber Leaf Place in Waldorf, Md around 7:15 p.m. The victim survived, but detectives couldn't identify a suspect, the report said.
► MARCH 4: Walter Thomas and a friend were walking on Fairchild Court in Waldorf around 11:50 p.m. when two suspects approached them in a car and announced a robbery. One of the suspects opened fire with a gun, striking Thomas. Thomas fled to Freemantle Court where he collapsed. He later died from his injuries.
► APRIL 9: Investigators identified Michael Moore as the shooter at the initial incident on Amber Leaf Place. According to police, detectives learned that the victim and Moore had an argument prior to the shooting, and the victim had been targeted by Moore. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant and Moore was charged with attempted murder, first-degree murder and other charges.
► MAY 17: Detectives linked Moore to the Thomas murder in Fairchild Court. They also identified Darren Miller as a suspect in the case. He was arrested in D.C. and then extradited to Charles County. Miller was charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder and other charges.
Moore was being held at the Charles County Detention Center for the initial shooting on Amber Leaf, police said. He was served an arrest warrant charging him with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, first-degree assault, robbery and other related charges for the murder of Thomas.
Detectives concluded that in the Thomas case, the shooting was random. Both Moore and Miller are being held without bond.
