WASHINGTON — Looking for a job where you can make a positive impact on your community? A Friday job fair may have the employment opportunities you're looking for. Several of the District's public safety agencies, including DC Police, DC Fire and the Office of Human Rights will be on hand for the DC Public Safety Job Fair.
The fair is happening at the DC Armory, located at 2001 E Capitol St. SE, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Registration is required to attend. You can register here.
Organizers say the Public Safety Job Fair will present an opportunity to meet and connect with representatives from key DC public safety agencies, including:
- DC Office of Human Rights (OHR)
- Metropolitan Police Department (MPD)
- Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
- Department of Corrections (DOC)
- Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services (DYRS)
- Office of Unified Communications (OUC)
- Office on Returning Citizen Affairs (ORCA)
- Department of Forensic Sciences (DFS)

Many of the agencies participating in the job fair have been dealing with staffing shortages, including MPD and OUC.
Just last week, the Office of the District of Columbia Auditor released a lengthy report that said, in part, that the police department doesn’t have enough detectives, and doesn’t always have patrol officers in the right places at the right times.
In an effort address its own staffing shortages, the OUC is offering $800 bonuses for showing up to work.
