WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA9) -- Remember when AT&T offered its customers unlimited Internet browsing, streaming and video calling.
Well the Federal Trade Commission says that unlimited data plan came with a catch. Now, the FTC is suing the telecommunications company for what it calls data throttling, slowing down data speeds.
The complaint charges that customers didn't even know they weren't getting the unlimited service that they had paid for. And that, the FTC charges, is deceptive.
The Federal Trade Commission wants AT&T to stop the practice and to refund people who paid the early termination fees to cancel their unlimited data plan.
