ROCKVILLE, Md. (WUSA9) -- The opening of Rockville's first stand-alone Chick-fil-A restaurant doesn'thappen until Thursday but that apparently didn't stop people from camping out for it a day earlier.
The crowd did have a reason: the first 100 adults in line would get a year's supply of Chick-fil-A Meals.
The company said that Wednesday morning the line opened at 6 a.m. at the location on Rockville Pike and quicklyreached 100 people. Those people must stay there until 5 a.m. Thursday to get the prize: 52 coupons for a Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich, medium Waffle Potato Fries™ and a medium drink.
Chick-fil-A says the first "First 100" event was done in Arizona in 2003 and due to its success the company now does it at every grand opening (http://www.chick-fil-a.com/Locations/First-100).
The Rockville restaurant opens for business Thursday after the 100 adults get their coupons at 6 a.m. After that, the restaurant will be open Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
