This year's Capital Pride theme is...

It's an 80s, 90s party!

WASHINGTON — It's official. The theme of this year's Capital Pride has been revealed and it's totally rad.

The 2024 Capital Pride theme is "Totally Radical," and it was revealed Thursday night at an event at PennSocial in Northwest, D.C.

Guests at the event also got a sneak peek into other Capital Pride Alliance news, WorldPride Washington DC 2025, the New LGBTQ+ Community Center, AAPI Pride, DC Black Pride, DC LatinX Pride, Silver Pride, Trans Pride Washington DC, and Youth Pride.

There were ASL interpreters present at the event.

In a Tweet, Capital Pride DC announced the new theme saying "During the 1980s and 1990s our community showed up, spoke up, ACTed up and created a TOTALLY RADICAL America."

The term "radical" describes activists who challenge established views and who operate outside the parameters of social convention to achieve political aims, sometimes employing extreme or violent methods in that pursuit, according to encyclopedia.com.
